Other Names: VAMP-2 (75-78), human, bovine, mouse, rat
The tetanus and botulinum B toxins block neurotransmitter release by cleaving the synaptic vesicle protein synaptobrevin-2. Synaptobrevin-2 (75-78), which contains this cleavage site, has been shown to inhibit the in vitro proteolysis of synatobrevin-2 by both toxins. Schiavo, G; et al., Nature, 359, 832, (1992).
