Boc-Tyr(Bzl)-OH is a tyrosine derivative often utiled in Boc SPPS. Under the repeateded acidic conditions for Boc deprotection during peptide synthesis, a small proportion of the benzyl protecting groups may migrate fron the oxygen atom to the ring of tyrosine. Therefore Boc-Tyr(Bzl)-OH is sometimes replaced with other tyrosine derivatives, especially for tyrosine residues occuring early in the synthesis of long peptides.
