This peptide derived from SMCX, a protein encoded on the chromosome X, is different only by two amino acids from the SMCY peptide fragment. This peptide is also recognized by the H-Y specific CTL clone, but comparable killing was only achieved by 10’000 times the peptide concentration. Wang, W; et al., Science, 269, 1588, (1995).
