BOP-Cl is a highly effective reagent for the acylation of N-methyl amino acids.  It provides good yields with low epimerization. (C Van Der Auwera, MJO Anteunis, Int. J. Pept. Protein Res., 1987, 29, 574-588).  BOP-Cl is also an efficient reagent for coupling protected amino monothioacids to iminoamino acid residues to form thiopeptide bonds (HT Lee, JF Gallard, M Mayer, E Guittet, R Michelot, Bioorg. Med. Chem. 1996, 4, 2201-9.)
